80th ECOWAS Council of Ministers 13 – 14 November 2018 “Memorandum on the meeting of ECOWAS Ministers of Finance on the Consolidation of ECOWAS Customs Union”

Memorandum on the  meeting of ECOWAS Ministers of Finance on the Consolidation of ECOWAS Customs Union took place in Abuja Nigeria on from the 13th to 14th November, 2018 with the theme “Consolidation of the ECOWAS Custom Union .

The Minsters of finance from various Member State validated the draft Supplementary Act laying down community rules of origin and procedures applicable to goods originating in the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS ).

The Supplementary Act was intended primarily to reinforce and make the trade Liberalization Scheme ore effective by Simplifying and updating the rules of community Origin.

The text also sought to harmonize the rules with those of UEMOAS and the African Continental Free Trade Agreement  (AfCFTA).
